Student Responsibilities
Students are responsible for creating an account at www.udeducation.org and learning how to use the course website. There are no required sign in times so students may access the course at any time during the posted access window. For courses with a textbook, students are responsible for receiving delivery of the course textbook listed on the course page prior to the start of the course. Any additional required reading material and/or videos will be provided. Students are responsible for keeping up to date on any announcements posted on the course website or communicated via email.
Students are responsible for completing all materials posted on the course website before the course end date. This may include completing reading assignments, watching videos, completing and uploading assignments, and completing any additional research needed to complete the assigned tasks. Tests which are not completed within the time allotted will be automatically submitted. If your course contains other assignments, submissions after the recommended deadline are not penalized but those who do not complete an assignment before the course end date will not receive a certificate of completion.
Students are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary computer technology for accessing this website and content. Refer to the “system requirements” section of this page.
Grading Policy
The passing percentage on tests varies with each test, and is listed for each course prior to purchase. Students must answer the stated number of questions correctly within the time limit specified. Test questions will be scored as either correct or incorrect. Partial credit will not be provided. Students may re-take any test one time. Students may review tests after grading to see the correct answers and other additional feedback. If a test or course materials are found to have an error or errors which caused a failing score, students are responsible for notifying us using the information on the contact page within one week of taking the test. We will make every effort to rectify any inaccurate scores or correct any misleading information, but we reserve the right to determine what scores constitute a passing grade.
For “interactive” courses containing assignments, students must complete each task to the instructor’s satisfaction (with a grade above 70%) to receive a certificate of completion. The instructor will comment on your submission on the assignment’s page and/or via email if they require revisions to the assignment before issuing a certificate of completion. See our grading rubric for additional guidance.
Following satisfactory completion of all requirements, a certificate of completion will be provided on the course website. Students may access certificates for expired courses anytime on the My Profile page.
Continuing Education Credits
Unless otherwise specified, online courses are not valid for university credit.
Students who pay the required registration fees may participate in the same course more than once; however, the certificate of completion and associated credits are only valid once for each course. Additionally, students may be restricted from receiving a certificate of completion for courses whose content overlaps a course already completed.
The University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning is a registered provider with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (AIA/CES), provider # F193. Courses which offer credit toward the AIA/CES program are identified accordingly and list the number of learning units (LU) and/or health, safety, and welfare learning units (LU|HSW) if applicable.
Course attendance will only be reported to the AIA for students who provide their AIA membership number within 10 days of completion of the course. A form has been provided for this purpose at the completion of every course. Alternatively, students may email the course instructor with their membership number.
Architects licensed in the United States of America may also receive credit, even if they are not AIA members. Most, if not all state boards accept certificates of completion for AIA registered courses, although some states may cap the number of hours in one particular subject area. Familiarize yourself with your local state board’s requirements.
The AIA has not approved or endorsed any course; any material of construction; or any method or manner of handling, using, distributing, or dealing in any material or product. Questions related to specific materials, methods, and services may be addressed at the conclusion of a course. In order to maintain high-quality learning experiences, the AIA has developed its own evaluation of these courses. Students can evaluate this course by logging into the AIA’s CES discovery and clicking on the Course Evaluation link.
Courses are not registered with any other provider, unless otherwise specified. While some students have self-reported attendance of certain courses to state occupational therapy boards and received credit or partial credit, we cannot guarantee acceptance of these courses. We are not an AOTA provider.
System Requirements
Students are responsible for accessing and maintaining access to a computer with the necessary input devices, a broadband internet connection, and the latest versions of the internet browsers listed below.
All courses are optimized for the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome internet browsers on Windows 10 and Mac OS X. However, certain user-installed browser plugins may interfere with proper operation of the site. Some users experience video playback difficulty on Microsoft Edge and Apple Safari internet browsers; therefore, we do not recommend these browsers. Users must also have software which can read Adobe PDF documents, such as Adobe Reader.
All courses are optimized for use on a desktop or laptop running Windows or Mac OS X operating systems. While courses may function on certain handheld devices such as tablets or smartphones, we cannot guarantee full functionality on these devices.
