ATLS 3519 Special Topics in Technology, Arts, and Media: Universal Design for Digital Media is an online course at the University at Colorado Boulder as part of the Alliance for Technology, Learning, and Society course program. The course examines the standards and methods for designing digital material which is not only accessible for persons with disabilities but also effective and usable for all users and all platforms. It will review standards for usability and accessibility, focusing on the concepts of universal design, web standards, and accessibility best practices. Topics to be covered include (x)html standards, structured coding procedures, semantic web design, user-centered design, validation tools, among others. Prerequisites: ATLS 2000. Recommended prerequisites: ATLS 3010.
